1. Discovery & Fubo assessment
2. User behavior & pain point analysis
3. User goal definition
4. Problems & opportunity framing
5. Design iteration

Problem
The Fubo video player had critical usability issues with seeking across all platforms, driving video player–related app store ratings down to 1.9/5.0, signaling the need for a full player overhaul
Let’s find out the solution below
Discovery & Fubo assessment
A competitive review of player UI and controls across YouTube, Netflix — alongside a direct assessment of Fubo's current mobile experience.
User behavior & pain point analysis
Synthesized findings from UXR-led user testing to identify mobile user behaviors and pain points in the video player experience.
User goal definition
Defined user goals based on observed behaviors and pain points to guide design decisions for the mobile video player.
Problems & opportunities framing
Translated user pain points and user goal into clearly defined problems and design opportunities to frame the solution space.
Design iteration
Iterated on layout and control clarity across orientations to land on the strongest mobile video player solution.
Final design
A refined mobile video player with improved button clarity, consistent layout across orientations, and a more polished visual experience.
Design tokens and specs
After finalizing the design, tokenized all layouts and UI elements required to support the design system.
Currently in development, launching Q2 2026.
Received strong positive feedback from stakeholders across product and engineering.
